A little about me

Hi, my name is Kathleen Everingham and I’m a Naturopath and Nutritionist.

I grew up in a family where, no matter where we lived, my mother always seemed to be growing food in the garden, which is maybe why vegetables were one of my favourite foods as a child.

Everything was home made; meals took time to cook and required many hands. I also helped as much as I could and learnt the basics of preparing foods for nightly dinner meals.

Afterwards we all had our roles; washing up, drying and putting everything away. Everything seemed slower.

After a couple of decades of convenience foods, the circle seems to be coming back to appreciating ‘slow cooking’.

But what are we slow cooking? The statistics don’t lie that the overwhelming majority of us are not eating the two serves of fruit and five serves of vegetables a day that we need.

As a Naturopath and Nutritionist, my role is deeply rooted in a holistic approach to health and wellness, focusing on the healing power of nature to promote balance and vitality. Through my work, I have seen the transformative effects that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and herbs can have on the body and mind.

I trained for years to understand the benefits of food as medicine. I have a Masters degree in Human Nutrition and an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy.

Using this knowledge in my radio segments, I strive to highlight the diverse benefits of these foods, not just in terms of nutrition, but also in their broader role in natural medicine. By exploring these lesser-known benefits, I aim to enrich my listeners' understanding and appreciation of the foods in their local vegie store.

Moreover, my approach is not just about sharing information, but also about encouraging a shift in mindset.

Carrying on the tradition, my husband and I cook for our kids every night. We take really basic vegetables and turn them into a dinner which passes the test of three very hard judges!

Through my radio segments, I am excited to share the incredible benefits of fruits, vegetables, and herbs with a broader audience, helping to cultivate a healthier, more vibrant community.
